About cheese.help

cheese.help is a free cheese encyclopedia for home cooks and anyone curious about cheese. Every page tries to answer one question in its first lines, then give enough detail that you can act on it at the store or the stove.

How cheese.help articles are written

cheese.help articles are written and edited by the cheese.help team. Each one is researched from primary sources: USDA FoodData Central for nutrition, the official bodies behind protected cheeses such as Comté, Gruyère and Brie de Meaux, the FDA's standards of identity for US cheese, university dairy research, and food science writing we trust. Sources are listed at the end of each article, and specific numbers in the text link back to them.

Ratings on the site, such as how smoothly a cheese melts or how strong it tastes, are the team's own editorial judgments, and the pages say so. Articles are updated as better information turns up; the date at the top of each article shows the last update.

About the photos

The photos on cheese.help are real photographs, mostly from Wikimedia Commons under free licenses, and each one carries its photographer's credit and license. No photo appears on more than one page, and none are AI-generated.

What cheese.help does not do

cheese.help does not sell cheese or take payment for recommendations, and brand names appear only when they help you shop. Nutrition pages report facts, not medical advice; for health questions, talk to your doctor.
